Types of Diabetes
There are three main types of diabetes - type I, type II and gestational diabetes. Type I of diabetes is also called as juvenile diabetes. It is the most common form in children, teenagers and young adults. The main cause of this form of diabetes is problems in pancreas. Lack of insulin distracts the normal function of metabolic processes. Type II of diabetes is the most common form for adults. In this kind of diabetes muscles, liver and fat cells are unable to produce insulin normally. Because of this patients feel lack of energy and fatigue. Gestational diabetes is type of disease, which occurs in late stages of pregnancy. After baby is born, gestational diabetes can develop to type II diabetes.
Tests for Diabetes
There are three main tests that are usually performed for diagnosis of diabetes. These tests are fasting plasma glucose test, oral glucose tolerance test and random plasma glucose test. In addition to this, physical examination, urine sugar test, urine ketones test, blood glucose test, c-peptide blood test, insulin lever blood test and some others can reveal the changes in metabolic process and be helpful in diagnosing of diabetes.
